what-are-your-top-3-new-years-health-wishesWHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 NEW YEAR’S HEALTH WISHES?

Do you think that wishes are simply airy-fairy and dreamy-gleamy? Have you learned in school or from personal growth books that wishes and dreams never come true, but S.M.A.R.T. goals do?

I beg to differ … or, I should say that I beg to clarify.

Yes, I’m familiar with the quote, “Goals are dreams with deadlines” by Diana Scharf Hunt. And, I agree wholeheartedly. In order for anything to come to fruition, it needs a clear vision, a road map, and a detailed plan.

But, before all that exhaustive preparation takes place, there has to be a beginning place — a place where dreams, ideas, and hopes have the impetus to bloom.

That’s what I’d like you to share, here.

What do you hope for?

What are your health wishes?

Are your dreams big and grand

or practical and concise?

You get to decide.

Whether your want to run a marathon in 2014 or simply add more veggies to your meals, please share your thoughts below.

A wish is where it all begins. It’s the tiny spark that fuels a future dream. Later, it may fan the flames of a finite planned goal. But for now, it’s simply a wish. And, that’s all you need.

What are your top three health wishes for the year ahead? As a community, we’re here to support and encourage each other. Please share your thoughts below and let’s see what blooms!

  1. I want to start a walking regimen to add to my circuit training. I want to lose my muffin top and promote heart health
I plan to have my first colonoscopy at age 65, yeah!, I know.
I want to read a morning meditation every day.
I want to be kinder to my Tea bagger brothers with whom I argue politics.
I want to be more patient with my 83 year old mother.
I want to make a will and funeral plans.
I want to read more and play on facebook less.

    1. Charlotte — wow, you’ve really put a lot of thought into this. Great ideas and I hope that others here take notice and start their own lists! Thanks for sharing.

  2. I want to start juicing everyday. (Got a juicer for Christmas.)

I need to gain weight. (20 lbs. would be great!)

I already walk almost everyday. I want to build some muscle through yoga and/or light weight training.

    1. Great suggestions, Linda! On your own, I hope you add some definition to these goals such as a way to measure your success, a deadline, and some more details to make them real (not to mention, juicy!). Good for you!
